Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM) has been constituted as a Registered Society under the Societies (Registration) Act, 1860 and Bombay Public (Trust) Act, 1950 with its headquarters at Gandhinagar. GUDM will work as a Society for seven years beginning from the year 2005-06. GUDM views urban development as a key driver of economic development, wherein the cities are vibrant, professionally managed, competitive and productive with integrated delivery systems guided by the principles of good governance and public accountability. The objective of the mission is to support urban renewal and urban infrastructure development in the given time frame for attaining better living standards & facilities, and creating hospitable environment for people to live and work in the urban areas of Gujarat. The Mission would also extend technological, financial, managerial, coordination and planning support to ULBs for efficient and effective implementation of the projects along with sustainability of utility services. In accordance with the objectives of JNNURM, GUDM will strive to achieve reform-driven, fast track, planned development of identified cities with focus on efficiency in urban infrastructure / services delivery mechanism, community participation and accountability of Urban Local Bodies towards citizens. The mission would work towards creating an enabling ambience for enhanced investment flow into the urban areas. |
